Particle Size Analysis & Product Development

At the Elcan Industries particle analysis and product development lab, we specialize in particle sizing and material testing services for clients in various industries. A Particle Size Distribution Analysis (PSD) determines and reports information about the size and range of particles representative of a given material. This analysis can be performed using a various techniques that include but not limited to, Malvern Laser Diffraction , by sieve method and others. The most accurate particle analysis procedure is to be determined based on the properties of said material and questions at hand.

Elcan Industries has 30 years of working with various particle size analysis methods to help give our customers feedback on the sieving work we are doing for them. Everything we do at Elcan starts with using a microscope to look at individual particles and their characteristics. This is an integral first step in determining how powders should be measured. At Elcan, we recognize that no two products are the same and that there may not be a one test fits all solution to finding an accurate particle size of your product. Using the multiple tools at our disposal, Elcan will work with you to determine the best measurement methods for your particles.

What Is Included In Our PSD Services?

Elcan Industries offer PSD curves and analysis using our Malvern Mastersizer 3000 laser diffraction system. These print outs measure down below one micron and allow customers to see the D10, D50, and D90 of their product. Elcan has multiple ROTAPS for performing sieve analysis at any size ranges as well as Jet Sieves for measuring fines content in powders as well. Sometimes we will use a combination of all three to help customers determine the most accurate representation of their particles.
