Silicon Carbide

Silicon carbide is a ceramic powder that is commonly used in the abrasives and electronic industry. It is extremely hard and has conductive properties that make it very common in these industries. Sieving silicon carbide can be a difficult process due to the high density of the product and the abrasiveness of the powder. The density of the powder can kill any energy inside of the screener and the abrasiveness of the powder can easily rip screen cloths.

Contract Manufacturing Experience

Elcan Industries has a proven method for sieving silicon carbide at various sizes down to 10 microns. The key is having energy on the screen surface. This will prevent the powder from overwhelming the screen and keep the particles elevated to prevent them from blinding the screen mesh. The hi-sifter uses a tensionless screen cloth that prevents the dense material from stretching the cloth and leads to much higher screen life.
