Boron Carbide is a ceramic powder that is known for its extremely hard nature. It is one of the hardest substances in the world and this makes it a key element in the creation of tank armor and bulletproof along with countless other industrial applications. Sieving boron carbide can be a difficult process due to the stickiness of the product and the abrasiveness of it. Boron carbide typically does not flow well and this can make sieving difficult as well.
Elcan’s Experience: Elcan Industries has successfully separated boron carbide down to 10 microns. Sieving boron carbide requires a high amount of vertical energy being put into the screen cloth, to prevent the screen from being overloaded. The tensionless sieve cloth prevents the screen from stretching and allows for longer screen life. Classifying boron carbide below 10 microns is a process that can be done efficiently on the Elbow Jet Air Classifier.
