PA 11 Powder (polyamide 11 / Nylon 11)

PA 11 or polyamide 11 or nylon PA11 powder is a bioplastic polyamide powder that is used for a wide-array of applications, but more recently has become integral in the 3d polymer printing process. PA11 (Nylon 11 powder) is typically very lightweight in nature and like other polymer powders, it can stick to the surface when being screened. The typical spec for sieving PA11 Is at 200 microns on top and 53 microns on the bottom. For the 53 micron fines removal on the bottom, the key is minimizing the amount of fines left in the product. This can be a very frustrating process using conventional and ultrasonic screeners due to their inability to efficiently screen at these finer sizes.

Contract Manufacturing Experience

Elcan’s Experience: Sieving PA11 powder is a process that Elcan has been able to streamline using our advanced line of hi-sifter sieving systems. Sieving PA11 is a process that is done most efficiently through the high energy approach to separation. Using the hi-sifter, PA11 powders are elevated inside the screening machine by this vertical energy on the screen. This prevents the powder from blinding the screen since it is never afforded the opportunity to blind the screen. The result is cleaner cuts and higher efficiency rates inside of the sieving system. Separating PA11 powder at 53um on a high energy screener will allow companies to obtain their necessary spec without having to do multiple passes of the powder. We have separated PA11 powder at sizes as fine as 500 mesh (25 microns).  If you would like to schedule a trial to run PA11 powder at our toll processing facility to see how sieving PA11 on the Hi-Sifter can improve your process, give us a call at (914) 381-7500!
