What is Lithium Cobalt Oxide used for? Lithium Cobalt Oxide is primarily used for battery manufacturing and portable electronic devices – smartphones, tablets, etc. It is relatively non-volatile and safe. Batteries produced with LiCoO2 cathodes have very stable capacities but have lower capacities and power than those with cathodes based on Nickel-Cobalt-Aluminum Oxides. Issues with thermal stability are better for LiCoO2 cathodes than other nickel-rich chemistries, although not significantly.
Elcan, while utilizing the Hi-Sifter equipment, has successfully separated Lithium Cobalt Oxide materials at fine sizes as fine as 15 microns for several battery manufacturers. The high energy of the Hi-Sifter paired with the density of the powder leads to separations at very high rates inside of the machine at very high efficiencies and yields. The Hi-Sifter sieving equipment is built using high-quality materials and gaskets and runs in dust-free environments. Additionally, when finer sizes are required, the Elbow Jet system can separate as fine as 1 micron while simultaneously removing oversize at 15 microns. If you would like to have your Lithium Cobalt Oxides powdered material screened at our facility to benchmark our performance, please reach out to us!
