Boron Nitride is a ceramic powder that has very strong thermal properties which make it a common powder used in high-temperature equipment. Screening boron nitride is a difficult process due to the stickiness and lack of flowability of the powder. Sieving boron nitride requires the feed to be closely monitored and typically energy is needed to prevent blinding.
Elcan Industries has a few different systems that can be used for sieving and separating boron nitride powders. Sieving boron nitride powder at sizes above ten microns can be done using the hi-sifter sieving system. The high energy on the screen surface allows for fines to stratify and pass through the screen mesh while the oversize and automatically discharged off the screen. For separations of boron nitride below ten microns, the Elbow Jet Air Classifier can be used. Either approach is sufficient for separating boron nitride powder.
