What are Ceramic proppants? Ceramic proppants are engineered materials used in fracking to keep rock formations open in order to enable the extraction of oil and natural gas. They are manufacturing from high quality Kaolin Clay and bauxite and are pressed into very spherical particles. Sieving Ceramic proppants can be a difficult process due to the extreme abrasiveness of the material and the wide range of particle sizes in the feed powder. That combined with the varying densities of the feed and the strict particle size requirement mean that the sieving process needs to be precise in order to obtain the desired particle sizes.
