Applications

Sieving Precipitated Calcium Carbonate

What is Precipitated Calcium Carbonate? Precipitated Calcium Carbonate (PCC) is a synthetic, high-purity form of calcium carbonate produced by reacting quicklime with carbon dioxide. Unlike ground calcium carbonate, PCC enables precise control of crystal size and morphology, making it ideal for applications where surface area, brightness, and particle-size uniformity are critical. PCC is widely used as a filler or additive in specialty plastics, high-gloss paper coatings, paints, sealants, adhesives, and advanced engineered materials. In many of these markets, powders must meet strict micron size requirements to maintain performance, flowability, and dispersion in formulations.

Contract Manufacturing Experience

Elcan Industries has worked extensively with calcium-based materials like PCC, helping customers achieve tight particle distributions below 20 microns. For ultra-fine grades, our Hi-Sifter high-energy sieving machine can screen PCC down to 10 µm without screen blinding. This machine applies strong vertical energy directly into the mesh, breaking up agglomerates and preventing oversize from accumulating on the screen. For even finer separations, the Elbow Jet Air Classifier offers a screenless solution capable of classifying PCC powders down to 1 µm using only airflow and the Coanda effect. All of this is available for testing or toll processing at our facility. Whether you’re producing high-gloss coatings, engineering polymers, or advanced fillers, Elcan Industries can help optimize your PCC powder performance.
