What is recovered carbon black (rCB)? Recovered carbon black is a sustainable alternative to virgin carbon black (vCB), produced by pyrolyzing end-of-life tires and rubber materials. Through this thermal decomposition process, hydrocarbons are removed, leaving behind a fine carbon-rich powder. rCB has gained momentum across industries for its lower environmental footprint, cost savings, and growing regulatory pressure to recycle materials. It is commonly used as a reinforcing filler in rubber products, black pigments for plastics and inks, and increasingly in battery electrode formulations and coatings.
